How invoices look
Under Payments → Settings → Display. Small settings, but they're the difference between an invoice that fits your work and one that reads like generic software.
These set the defaults. Each invoice carries its own copy, so you can change any of it on a single invoice from the line items area without disturbing the rest.
Column labels
Four columns, each with a few ready-made choices. For anything else there's a Custom box: type a label and press Set.
| Column | Offered | Or type your own |
|---|---|---|
| Items | Items, Products, Services | Coverage, Description |
| Units | Quantity, Hours | Days, Sessions |
| Price | Price, Rate | Day rate |
| Amount | Amount | Total, Line total |
If you charge by the day, a column headed "Quantity" is quietly wrong. Call it Days.
Hide columns
Turn off the ones you don't use:
- Hide units column, if you never charge by quantity
- Hide price column, when a per-unit price adds nothing next to a flat fee
- Hide item description, for a tighter invoice
At least one of the item name or the description must stay visible, since an invoice of unlabelled amounts isn't an invoice.
A photographer charging fixed package prices usually wants Units and Price gone. That turns four columns into "what it is" and "what it costs", which is all most clients want.
Document visibility
Switches for which details appear on the documents your clients see:
- Business registration
- Business address
- Business contact
- Contact address, meaning the client's own address
The contact's name and email always show, which the tab says under that last switch.
Turn on what your clients or your tax authority expect. Commercial clients often need your registration number and their own address on an invoice before their accounts department will process it. A portrait client neither needs nor wants any of it.
The details themselves come from Settings → Business. This tab only decides whether they're shown. Turning a switch on with nothing behind it shows nothing.
Saving
Display shares one save bar with the rest of payment settings. It appears as Unsaved changes the moment something changes, with Save and Discard.
How your client pages look overall
These settings shape the invoice document. The wider look of everything clients see, including invoices, proposals, questionnaires and booking pages, is set separately. See Your client pages.
