Replying from your own email

You won't always answer clients from CoreHue. You'll be on your phone, in your normal mail app, and you'll just reply.

That's fine. It works, and CoreHue keeps the record.

What happens

Every time a client emails you into a CoreHue thread, a copy of their message is sent to your account email. It reads like a normal email from them. That's the point. It's there to be replied to.

The first message of an inquiry or an intake form submission is different. Those arrive as a notification telling you something came in, so open Messages to read and answer them.

Reply to that copy from whatever mail app you're in, and two things happen. Your reply reaches the client. It also lands in the CoreHue thread marked via email, so the conversation stays whole. It shows up on the contact's Message threads tab like anything else.

You don't do anything to make this work. Reply to the copy CoreHue sent you, and your answer goes where it should.

The copy arrives because New messages is switched on under Settings → Notifications. It starts on. Turn its email off and you'll still see new messages in CoreHue, but there'll be nothing in your own inbox to reply to.

Why it matters

Without it, your client history would be full of holes. Every conversation you happened to answer on your phone would be missing. The record would look complete while being wrong, which is worse than useless.

With it, the history holds regardless of where you happened to be when you replied.

When to use CoreHue anyway

Replying from your own mail app is fine for a quick answer. Come back to CoreHue when you want:

  • A saved template, so you're not retyping your standard reply
  • Their name filled in automatically
  • To turn the conversation into work, a booking, proposal or invoice
  • To attach something large, since CoreHue turns oversized files into download links rather than letting the message fail
  • To see whether it arrived, which only the CoreHue thread can tell you

A practical habit

Answer quickly from wherever you are. Speed matters more than tidiness. An inquiry answered in ten minutes from your phone beats one answered properly in two days.

Then come back to CoreHue for the reply that actually does something: the quote, the proposal, the booking.
