Currencies, countries, and payments

There are two separate money questions in CoreHue, and it helps to keep them apart:

  1. What you pay for CoreHue (your subscription).
  2. How your clients pay you (your invoices).

Here's how each one works.

Paying for CoreHue​

Your subscription currency and payment method are set automatically by the country you signed up in, and they can't be switched later. Here's what applies to you:

You manage your subscription, payment method, and billing history on the Billing page. For a Nigerian account, a 7.5% VAT is added at checkout, so the amount you pay is a little above the list price.

How your clients pay you​

This is separate from your subscription. You decide how the people you photograph pay their invoices.

Online by card​

Connect Stripe once, and a Pay button appears on your invoices. Clients pay by card through Stripe's secure checkout, with no account needed, and you're notified when the money comes in.

Stripe is available in many countries. If it isn't available where you are, you can still get paid: take a bank transfer or another method and record it yourself. Your invoices, receipts, and reminders all work the same either way.

Offline (cash, check, transfer)​

You can show your bank details on an invoice and let clients pay you directly, then record the payment when it lands. Cash, check, bank transfer, and other methods are all supported, including partial payments.

Fees on card payments​

When a client pays online, two fees come out of your payout. They are not added on top of what your client pays:

  • A CoreHue platform fee of 2.5%.
  • Stripe's own processing fee (around 2.9% plus a small per-transaction fee).

Refunds​

You can refund a card payment back through Stripe, or reverse a manual one, right from the invoice. See Refunds.

Your invoice currency​

Your invoices use your default currency, which you set once in Profile.

  • On Core, you bill in that one currency.
  • On Pro, you can bill in more than one currency, which is useful for clients in other countries. See Billing.

One thing to know: the online Pay button only shows when an invoice's currency matches your connected Stripe account's currency. If they don't match, the client pays another way and you record it. Any taxes or discounts you charge your own clients are separate, and you control those per invoice. See Taxes and discounts.
