Sharing and Access
The Settings tab in the gallery editor has two key sections for controlling who can see your gallery and how they get in: Sharing and Access. Together, they give you fine-grained control over every aspect of your gallery's privacy.
Sharing section
Slug and gallery link
At the top of the Sharing section, you will see your gallery's slug, the part of the URL that comes after your username. You can edit it at any time, and CoreHue checks in real time whether your new slug is available. Right next to the slug field is a Copy URL button that copies the full gallery link to your clipboard, ready to paste into a message or email.
Auto-expiry
Below the slug, you will find a date picker for setting an expiry date. Once this date passes, the gallery automatically becomes unavailable to visitors. They will see a friendly message letting them know the gallery has expired. You can still access the gallery yourself, and you can remove the expiry date at any time to make it available again.
This is useful for time-sensitive deliveries where you want the gallery to be available for a set window, like 30 days after a wedding, and then quietly close.
Show on Portfolio
A simple toggle. Turn it on, and this gallery appears on your public portfolio page alongside your other published work. Turn it off, and the gallery is only accessible via its direct link. Great for client deliveries that you do not want displayed publicly.
Access section
The Access section is where you control passwords and registration. CoreHue offers a layered system so different visitors can have different levels of access.
Gallery password
Click Generate to create a gallery password. This is the password you share with anyone you want to give access to. You can copy it with one click, and toggle the visibility to show or hide the password text in your settings.
When a gallery password is set, visitors see a password screen before they can view any photos. Without the correct password, they cannot get in.
Client Access toggle
This is what enables the dual-password system. When you turn on Client Access for the first time, CoreHue automatically generates a separate client password. Now your gallery has two passwords:
- The gallery password is for general guests.
- The client password is for the main client.
When visitors arrive at a protected gallery with Client Access enabled, they see two options: "I'm the client" and "I'm a guest." Each option leads to its own password field.
Why does this matter? Clients who enter the client password get access to client-only chapters (chapters you have marked as visible to clients only). They also get access to special features like hiding photos. Guests who enter the regular gallery password only see chapters marked as "everyone" and do not get the extra client features.
For example, at a wedding, the couple enters the client password and sees all chapters, including a private "Intimate Portraits" section. Their friends and family enter the guest password and see the ceremony and reception photos but not the private chapter.
Client password
The client password has the same controls as the gallery password: generate, copy, and show/hide. It is completely separate from the gallery password. You can change one without affecting the other.
Email Registration toggle
Turn this on, and visitors will be asked to provide their email address before they can interact with the gallery. This includes downloading photos, creating collections, and other actions. Their email is captured and appears in your Activity tab, giving you a simple way to build your contact list from the people who are most engaged with your work.
Client Hide Photos toggle
When this is on, clients who log in with the client password can hide individual photos from their view. This does not delete anything. It simply removes the photo from that client's experience. You can see which photos were hidden in the Activity tab and unhide them if needed.
What visitors experience
Here is how the access layers work from the visitor's perspective:
No password, no registration. The gallery is open. Anyone with the link walks right in and sees all chapters marked as "everyone."
Gallery password only. Visitors see a password screen. They enter the password and get access to all "everyone" chapters.
Client Access enabled (dual passwords). Visitors see two options: "I'm the client" or "I'm a guest." Clients enter the client password and see everything, including client-only chapters and extra features. Guests enter the gallery password and see only the "everyone" chapters.
Email Registration on. Before performing any interactive action (downloading, creating a collection), visitors are prompted for their email. This works alongside any password settings you have in place.
Rate limiting on password attempts
To keep your galleries secure, CoreHue limits how many times someone can try entering a password in a short period. If someone enters the wrong password too many times, they are temporarily locked out. This prevents anyone from guessing their way into a protected gallery.
