Downloads
Downloads are how your finished photos get from your gallery into your client's hands. CoreHue gives you control over every step of the process: what sizes are available, whether a PIN is required, and whether you collect an email along the way. There are two download paths: single photo downloads and bulk downloads.
Single photo downloads
When a visitor clicks the download icon on any photo, the single download flow begins.
Step 1: Email capture (if enabled)
If you have Email Registration turned on, the visitor is asked to provide their email address before the download starts. This only happens once per session. After they enter their email, subsequent downloads in the same visit proceed without asking again.
Step 2: Size picker (if multiple sizes available)
If you have configured more than one download size (for example, original plus an optimized size), a small selector appears letting the visitor choose which size they want. If only one size is available, this step is skipped and the download starts immediately.
Step 3: PIN entry (if enabled)
If you have set a Download PIN, the visitor is prompted to enter the four-digit code. This only happens once per session, just like the email capture. After entering the correct PIN, all subsequent downloads proceed without asking again.
The photo then downloads directly to their device. Quick and straightforward.
Bulk downloads
Bulk downloads let visitors grab entire chapters or the full gallery at once as a compressed file. This is the flow when someone clicks Download All in the chapter navigation area.
Step 1: Email capture (if enabled)
Same as single downloads. If Email Registration is on and the visitor has not yet provided their email, they are asked for it first.
Step 2: Chapter selection
A panel appears showing checkboxes for each available chapter. The visitor can select which chapters they want to include in the download. By default, all downloadable chapters are checked, but they can uncheck any they do not need.
Step 3: Size selection
A size selector lets the visitor choose which resolution they want for the entire batch. The options match whatever you configured in your download settings.
Step 4: PIN entry (if enabled)
If a Download PIN is set and the visitor has not already entered it during this session, they are prompted for it here.
Step 5: Processing
Once the visitor confirms, CoreHue begins preparing the download in the background. A progress bar shows how far along the processing is. Depending on the number of photos and the chosen size, this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
The visitor does not need to keep the page open during processing. CoreHue handles everything on its end.
Step 6: Download ready
When the files are ready, the visitor gets a download link. If the gallery is large, CoreHue automatically splits the download into multiple smaller parts so that no single file is too large to handle. Each part downloads separately.
The download link stays active for 7 days. After that, it expires and the visitor would need to request a new bulk download if they need the files again.
Email capture on download
If you have Email Registration enabled, every download (single or bulk) captures the visitor's email address the first time they download during a session. These emails appear in your Activity tab under Email Captures, along with how many galleries that person has visited. It is a natural, non-intrusive way to build your contact list from the people most engaged with your work.
Per-chapter download control
Remember that each chapter has its own download toggle. Even if downloads are turned on for the gallery, you can disable them for specific chapters. Photos in chapters with downloads turned off will not show download icons, and those chapters will not appear in the bulk download chapter selection.
