Paying an invoice

Open the link your photographer sent. The invoice is there, with what you owe and when it's due. No account, no sign-in.

Paying by card

Press the pay button. If card is the only way they accept, you go straight to a secure checkout page. If they take more than one kind of payment, a Pay panel opens first so you can choose.

At the checkout you enter your card, and depending on your device you may be able to use Apple Pay or Google Pay instead.

When it goes through you're brought back to the invoice, which shows Confirming your payment and then Payment received a moment later. That short wait is normal.

If you close the checkout without paying, you land back on the invoice unchanged. Nothing has been taken. Just press pay again.

If your card is declined, that happens at the checkout and it's between you and your bank. Nothing reaches your photographer. Trying another card is usually the fix.

Paying a deposit now and the rest later

If your photographer split the invoice, you'll see a Payment schedule on the page listing each payment, its date and its amount, with the one that's due now marked.

The pay button asks for that payment: Pay deposit, Pay installment or Pay balance, with the amount on it. A small arrow beside it offers Pay in full if you'd rather clear the lot.

Use the same link for the balance later. It doesn't expire and it always shows what's still outstanding. Bookmark it.

A part-paid invoice shows Still due at the top, with everything you've already paid listed underneath.

Paying by bank transfer

If your photographer offers it, choose that option and their instructions appear, exactly as they wrote them.

Use the reference they give you, which is usually the invoice number. Without it they have to match an unlabelled payment to one of many clients.

Then press I've made this payment. If they've asked for proof, attach a screenshot or a PDF of the transfer, up to 5MB. The field reads Add proof of payment. You can add a note as well.

After that the invoice says Awaiting confirmation. Your photographer marks it off once the money lands. There's nothing more for you to do, and the pay buttons disappear until they've reviewed it.

Don't pay twice if it hasn't updated yet. Bank transfers take time to arrive, and a second payment is far more trouble to undo than to wait.

If your payment wasn't confirmed

The invoice will say Payment not confirmed, with your photographer's Reason if they gave one, and they email you about it too. It usually means the money hasn't arrived yet, or the amount didn't match.

You can pay again or submit fresh proof from the same page. Read the reason first: paying twice by mistake is the thing to avoid.

Getting a receipt

Every payment gets a Receipt button next to it on the invoice. Download it whenever you need it. A payment that has been fully refunded has no receipt to download.

Receipts aren't emailed automatically. If you need one sent formally, for an expenses claim or your accounts, ask your photographer.

If there's no way to pay on the page

A few possibilities, and none of them are your fault:

  • The invoice is for a session you booked, or it came from a proposal. Payment then lives on that page rather than here, so use that link instead.
  • Your photographer sent the invoice as a record rather than as something to pay.
  • Your photographer hasn't finished setting up online payments.
  • The invoice has been cancelled or is already settled.

The page won't tell you which. Ask your photographer and they'll know straight away.

Things you can't do here

  • Pay a different amount than the one shown.
  • Take back a payment you've reported.
  • Change the invoice. If something's wrong on it, tell your photographer before paying.
