Opening your gallery

Your photographer sent you a link. Open it on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

If it asks for something first

Depending on how your photographer set it up, you may see one of these.

Client access or Guest access. Pick Client access if the photos are yours, meaning you are the person who booked. Pick Guest access if someone else sent you the link. The two see slightly different things. Your photographer may have set aside photos for you that guests do not see.

A password. Type the one in the message they sent you, then press Enter. It is case sensitive, so copy and paste it rather than retyping if you can.

Your email. Some galleries ask for it, and the button then reads Continue. It is how your photographer knows who has looked. It is also how your chosen photos find their way back to you later.

You are only asked once. The gallery remembers you on that device for a week.

If the password does not work

There is no reset link, and there is not meant to be. Only your photographer can tell you the password, so ask them.

If you try many times in a row, the gallery pauses you for about fifteen minutes. Everyone on the same internet connection shares that limit, so a family all guessing at once can lock each other out. Wait rather than trying again straight away.

Looking through

Scroll and the photos keep loading. If there is a row of names along the top, those are chapters, and each one is its own page: tap a name to open it. When you reach the end of a chapter, See more takes you to the next.

Tap any photo to open it full screen. Swipe or use the arrow keys to move between them, and close it to go back to the grid.

The first time you open the gallery, a short guide may appear explaining the buttons you have.

The buttons at the top

At the right-hand end of the chapter row you may find:

  • Collections, for the photos you pick out. See Choosing your photos.
  • Share gallery, to send the link on.
  • Start slideshow, which plays the photos full screen.
  • Download gallery. See Downloading your photos.
  • Log out, once you have given your email, if you want the gallery to forget you on this device.

On a phone the download button stays visible and the rest are behind the ⋯ button.

If a button is missing, your photographer has not switched that feature on for this gallery.

Work down this list before assuming anything is broken.

Check you have the whole link. Links break across two lines in messages, and copying half a link is the most common cause by far.

Check the date. Galleries can be set to come down after a while. If it says the gallery has expired, your photographer can put it back up.

Ask your photographer to resend it. Links change if they change their own web address, and an old link then stops working with no warning. They can send a fresh one in seconds.

If none of that helps, tell them what you see on screen. The exact wording tells them straight away what has happened.

Saving photos

That is covered separately, because there is a bit more to it. See Downloading your photos.
